Discover White Bluff Resort on Lake Whitney

Welcome to White Bluff Resort

Located about an hour south of the DFW Metroplex, White Bluff Resort is a well-kept secret in North Texas.  It is privately owned by the property owners and is professionally managed by a well-qualified company that specializes in resort and golf course management.

It spans approximately 3,500 wooded acres, with generous frontage and a marina on Lake Whitney. Here are some of the features that draw folks to White Bluff.

The Latest on White Bluff Resort

A few new items to report on the progress being made to restore the amenities at White Bluff.

The Bluff Point Condos.

We recently received an update from the Board of Directors that these rental condos are now completely renovated (inside and out) and available for rental. $150/night for property owners and $200/night for non-property owners. Reservations can be made through the POA office – 254-694-WPBO. Here is a link to the letter we received and a list of improvements made to the units. They are beautiful, on the Old Course across from the Club House.

Log Cabins

White Bluff also offers three Log Cabins for rental. These have also been refurbished and rent for $125/night for property owners and $150/night for those who do not own property here. Link here for details about the Bluff Point Condos and the Log Cabin accommodations.

Amenities Owned by White Bluff POA

Besides the golf courses, pools, RV parks and tennis courts , the Property Owners Association owns dozens of amenities throughout the Resort. Many are open and available for use; others require renovation before they can be available. (Remember, the POA only acquired the Resort from the developer last fall. Much was in disrepair and is being taken care of at this time.)
You can link to a page on the POA website that provides specifics as to what we own and whether it is open at this time.

Using “Big City” Listing Agents?

Sometimes folks think that a listing agent or prominent realty name from a nearby metroplex will help their home sell faster. Some may think the “locals” are not savvy enough to do the job. Not necessarily so. Look local first.

What “Big City” Agents Don’t Know

They probably do not know YOUR housing market as well as they may know their city market. If you are in the Lake Whitney market, you can be pretty sure the city agents don’t get out here much.

  • Has your agent been to your home? Have they toured White Bluff and/or the general Lake Whitney home areas? Do they stay on top of the progress being made at White Bluff?
  • Has he or she ever listed, personally shown or sold a home at Lake Whitney — driven around or talked to people here?
  • Do they understand why the Lake Whitney market is unique and quite different from other North Texas lakes?
  • Will that agent personally bring potential buyers down here to see your home? Or will they try to get someone local to do the job they should be doing?
  • Will there even be a lockbox on your door — or will it be a common metroplex type of system that agents must pay to use in order to show your home? (That has happened here and the home was never shown until Emily Morris called the metroplex agent to tell them why it was not being shown. Turned out that agent didn’t want to make the trip to Lake Whitney to put on a lockbox — she had Emily take care of it for her! Is that the kind of agent you want for your home?)

Lake Whitney Properties Need a Lake Whitney Expert

  • We live on and own property on this lake. We have marketed local homes throughout the lean years and the very good years. We understand this market like no one else from outside the area really can.
  • We are Lake Whitney experts — we know the rules and regulations that apply to lake area and White Bluff Resort properties. We know about the fishing here. We know the marinas, the restaurants, the lifestyle out here. And, most important, we know the people out here.
  • LakeHomes.com is our broker — the largest nationwide broker for lake properties — the one most lake home shoppers go to when they start looking for a lake home. Lake Homes Realty at Lake Whitney is the local, onsite agent who helps clients benefit from the nationwide marketing (not just listing, but actual marketing) done by LakeHomes.com. With nationwide marketing taken care of, we manage the local and statewide marketing for our clients.

White Bluff Resort Spring Update

White Bluff amenities

It is spring here at White Bluff Resort on Lake Whitney. The bluebonnets are starting to bloom — renewing our landscape and our hearts with their beauty. White Bluff is also well into its renewal as a superior golf and lake resort — a commitment by our property owners and our POA.

Lodging.

One of three log cabins available for rental.

Our three log cabins, on the New Course at the Rustic Pool, are again available for rental. They have been updated and are already being reserved for visitors.

Our fully reburbished condos available for guest lodging.

Our condos, across from the Old Course Pro Shop, will be ready soon — furniture, new mattresses/box springs are being moved in.

Dining.

The New Course Clubhouse houses both a Pro Shop and the new Mulligan’s.

The former Trophy Grill on the New Course has been renamed to Mulligan’s and will be opening soon. Total renovation — from the kitchen to the bar to the dining area and the outside seating area — has been completed. A kiosk (snack bar) has been created for golfers as a convenience outside the dining area. New tables, chairs and dining booths have been installed, along with a red and green tartan plaid sofa and arm chairs in front of the fireplace. (The dining room will now seat 70.) Three flat-screen TVs will be installed. The bar has been extended and a new inlaid hickorywood bar top put in place. A pizza oven has been installed and I hear we can enjoy pizza made from a propriety recipe shared only with us. Can’t wait! Arcis Golf, the management company selected by our POA, is in the process of interviewing candidates for management of Mulligan’s. In addition, the restrooms have been total renovated and updated.

Marina.

White Bluff’s Marina has continued to be open. Slip leases are being renewed and additional covered slips are still available.

Lighthouse Restaurant and Bar

The Lighthouse Deck (before its expansion and bandstand addition.)

The very popular Lighthouse deck has been repaired and stabilized. All railings have been replaced. Work has begun on building the new bandstand — folks here look forward to Friday night music there. Arcis Golf is addressing a plan for re-opening the Lighthouse facilities.

Two Golf Courses

We continue to receive detailed updates from our POA regarding the progress on renovating and improving our two golf courses. The New Course is substantially done and work has been progressing well on the Old Course. We have been able to play the New Course during its renovation. Both courses will be closed for the summer to allow for the finalization of the work — tee leveling, fairway aerification, sodding, fertilizing, chemical applications, irrigation repairs, drainage projects on numerous holes and growing in 39 greens.

Our Golf Course Superintendent, Gregg Fjelland, shared this comment: “I hope everyone understands that we want to give all property owners the best possible scenario when we open both courses in late summer. There will be many moving parts this summer and by closing for a short period, we can get our large to-do list completed.”

He also offers a special thanks to the many property owner/volunteers who initially helped get the courses cleaned up after the long shut-down by the developer. Just a reminder, we — the property owners — now own our resort and have elected a superior POA Board of Directors to lead us and the work that is being done here at White Bluff.

Visit White Bluff Resort This Spring.

We welcome you to come out to visit our resort and see how beautiful it is. About 4,500 acres of woodlands surround our golf courses, pools and homes. It is a beautiful and friendly community. Lake Whitney — The Most Gorgeous Texas Lake

Of course, we, who live at Lake Whitney, have known this all along. But it is still a well-kept secret up in the DFW metroplex and down in Houston. Property and homes at Lake Whitney are much more affordable than other lakes around Texas.

  • Lake Whitney tx

It is the rural environment of this lake that makes it most appealing for weekend homes — and for those who can move away from the city and enjoy a quieter, peaceful way of life. Lake Whitney is uncrowded — not overrun with homes, boats and traffic.

Best Outdoor Recreation in Texas

According to TexasOutside.com, Lake Whitney is the 4th largest lake in Texes — 23,500 acres with 225 miles of shoreline. “Lake Whitney offers some of the best outdoor recreation in Texas with excellent lakefront camping and lodging, good fishing, nearby hunting and perfect conditions for boating. The clear water, scenic bluffs, protected coves and unusually smooth water (primarily due to light boat traffic) are perfect for boaters.”

A Houston blogger, MommyPoppins.com, recommends Lake Whitney for family fun. (NOTE: We have plenty of Houston folks who have moved to Lake Whitney and others who have getaway homes here for weekend relaxation.)

Cleanest Lakes in Texas.

USA Today
lists Lake Whitney among the cleanest lakes in Texas. “Lake Whitney is one of the lesser-known lakes in Texas, which is hard to believe considering how beautiful it is….this is the perfect sport for swimming, camping, fishing and other lake activities.” March 15, 2018

Google lists Lake Whitney as one of the most scenic swimming lakes in Texas.

Tai Chi and Pickleball at White Bluff

If they are not golfing, boating, fishing, hunting, horseback riding or bicycling, White Bluff residents are engaged in many activities here on the Resort, including Pickleball and Tai Chi.

Pickleball.

A group got started in mid-2018 and meets about twice a week as a group, but individuals can play more often. One of the tennis courts has been outfitted for Pickleball and the participants gladly volunteered do the work to get it ready for play. Equipment is available to use at the White Bluff court or people can bring their own.

The sport is the fastest-growing in the U.S., with more than 2.8 million players and a 12% increase in the past year, according to the Sports & Fitness Industry Association. Here is a link to information about the sport of Pickleball.

A professional Tai Chi instructor conducts the class — which averages 12 to 20 (depending on participant schedules). Each class is $10/person for an hour of instruction. Tai Chi is a gentle form of exercise that is appropriate for any age and most any physical condition. It promotes balance, mental concentration, muscle strengthening and general flexibility. Besides stretching and gentle movements, Tai Chi incorporates meditation and controlled breathing. Egyptian Geese Now Make White Bluff Home.

Over the last couple of months, some new birds took up residence in the ponds at the entrance to White Bluff Resort. A pair of Egyptian Geese are sighted daily and they are unique in their appearance and presence.

According to birding sources, these birds originated in Egypt and were brought to this country for private collections. Apparently some escaped captivity and are thriving in the Houston area. We are lucky enough to now have a pair here at White Bluff.

Here are two links to learn more about these birds.
